Help Protect Customers After a Total Loss
Guaranteed Asset Protection (GAP) helps customers protect themselves when their insurance settlement does not cover the remaining balance on their vehicle finance agreement.
A total loss can create more than the need for another vehicle. It can leave a customer responsible for a loan balance on a vehicle they can no longer drive. GAP helps address that financial exposure and gives dealers another valuable protection option to offer in F&I.

When Insurance Isn’t Enough
If a financed vehicle is totaled the customer’s primary insurance settlement may be less than the amount remaining on the finance agreement.
That difference can leave the customer responsible for a balance while also facing the expense of replacing the vehicle. Our GAP is designed to help address that difference.
How GAP Works
A customer’s vehicle may depreciate faster than the balance of the loan. When a covered total loss occurs, primary auto insurance generally pays based on the vehicle’s value, not necessarily the remaining finance balance.
GAP can help reduce or eliminate the eligible difference between the insurance settlement and the remaining finance agreement balance.

A Relevant F&I Conversation
Customers often focus on protecting the vehicle itself. GAP gives your F&I team an opportunity to address another risk: what happens to the customer’s financial obligation if that vehicle becomes a total loss.
For dealers, GAP adds another relevant product to the F&I conversation and helps create a more complete protection strategy around the vehicle purchase.
